Hi fellow acer users,
I've a puzzling situation which has had me researching for a week now.
I've recently bought this ram pack [Kingston HyperX 2x2GB 667MHz Low-Latency DDR2 CL4] to upgrade my 3GB to 4GB.
Computer boots. Windows loads and everything. I can play games and everything seems faster. The only thing not working is the WIFI [Atheros AR5007EG]. Usually it initializes at windows login [the orange light blinks], but with 4gb it does not light up all. In device manager it shows up with the yellow exclamation. I open it up and i see something like "device cannot start code 10".
I reverted back to 3gb and tried different combos of 3gb with new and old ram and the WIFI would work. It's only when it hits 4gb with any config that the WIFI doesnt start.
So the 2 main questions I have in my head right now are:
1. Does having 4gb installed kill the WIFI? or..
2. Does having ram in dual-channel kill the WIFI?
From my week of research, I've found that a lot of acers are REALLY picky with 4gb, some won't even boot.
Specs for reference:
CPU - AMD Turion 64 Mobile TK-55 Dual Core - Socket S1
Mainboard - Acer Fuquene NVIDIA nForce 560 Rev. A2
Memory - one 2GB Kingston ddr2 667mhz stick [originally one 2GB Samsung and one 1GB Micron both ddr2 667mhz]
BIOS - Acer V1.33 [latest for aspire 7520s]
Video - GeForce 7000m / nForce 610
WIFI - Atheros AR5007EG

What type of windows do you have? xp/vista 32/64bit?
If you have 32bit, try to use the "/3GB" tag in the boot.ini -
Most Acers will only run 4 gig with a 64bit OS, and even then they only recognise just under 3gig.
My TM 5320 won't even turn on with any more than 2 gig installed.
