    Good evening!

    I have an Acer Aspire 7535, with the AMD Turion(tm) X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM-84 2.30 ghz. My mobo has the chipset AMD M780G, and I was just wondering if its worth and possible to upgrade the CPU to the wonderfully cheap (and better)
    AMD Athlon II X4 2.8 GHz Processor.
    Thanks =)
    Also, it is not the 7535G, I have the 3200HD radeon card thing, 4g ddr2. I really like the screen size and resolution of this computer so I do not want to get a new one. I do lots of multitasking for school, latex with internet browsers, while reading pdfs and winraring things. And of course several other combinations of things. Thanks.

    EDIT (Sorry) : So as I continue to research it, I find that it doesn't seem my mobo's chipset supports it. However I only say this because the mobo's that I find this chip to be on are always higher, but never saying it can't be used on a lower, etc... However based on heat production (it IS for my laptop) and all those factors, would this be an excellent and cheap upgrade also?? AMD Athlong II X3 ?? The wattage is also much lower, good for battery life. Though I can tell the clockspeed upgrade is hardly noticeable... so I dont know which to look into.
    Thanks

    I have this exact computer and AFAIK, it accepts ZM CPUs only. That means it is not economical upgrading the CPU. However, you can speed it up a little with WD Black 500GB or 750GB drive and with 2x4GB SODIMM DDR2 800. That's what I did anyway. The original configuration lags quite badly due to the slow Hitachi 5400 500GB.

    O thanks. I'll still wait to hear about the Phenoms, since I actually found the mobo easily supports it. However I will take some time to look into what you say :)
    How did you upgrade the memory to get 8gb? I would use various softwares or websites which discuss upgrades, and it says the max is 4gb DDR2 667MHz, so... the 2x4gb soDIMM DDR2 800 really throws me off :(. I actually have a 256gb SSD on order already, just waiting on that. So the harddrive change has already essentially happened :)

    Edit: Should have also asked from where did you get your memory? I always find the longer desktop sticks, not the really small ones this laptop needs.

    2x4GB DDR2 800 SODIMM should be available in most computer stores now. Mine is the Corsair. Turion X2 Ultra has different socket to Athlon or Phenom so there is no chance they will fit.

    You can check them out here:

    Thanks!

    So there isn't really a better CPU :(
