This thread is for owners of the Aspire 7720 and other variations of the 7720 model. There isn't enough info on our lappy and I'd like to make a difference even if its a small one.
So post your issues, reviews, pictures, specs, and all the above.

How do you like you Aspire 7720?
-
I've had my laptop a little over 2weeks now & im quite happy so far until today. When i first got the laptop i noticed alot of slown down with the audio & today the bass (sub) seems to have totally vanished & it sounds really crap now, does anyone know much about this?
-
driver link.... FTP link... choose your model... and rightclick save file as...
while there download the latest BIOS FILE.... that fixes most all stutters and probs with the audio (other than the sub issue) -
Please excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a BIOS file & what does it do? Will it effect any of my files etc?
As for the audio problem i've looked at the site & under Aspire noticed that there is only the 7720 not the 7720G which i have, does this matter?
I run Vista 32bit service pack 1 would this file solve my audio problem:
Audio_Realtek_v6.0.1.5477_Vistax32.zip
Thanks again. -

One of many huges threads concerning sound and Bios related problems is this
I have an Aspire 7720G too (same as 7720), and have experienced sound stuttering and general sluggishness on my lappy since the very day I bought it, and the ONLY thing that solved it was upgrading Bios, since that was causing my failure. Solutions came after v1.34, just to let you know.
I would advice you to download the latest bios available (v1.43) here. With full charged battery and AC supply, execute the winflash file (try to close as many aplications as you can before, as to remove setup or hdd passwords if you have them), and then just follow the simple instructions and wait a minute for the flash to complete. Finally, you have to power on you computer after it went off by itself.
That´s all, your sound problems should became history after that. Be cool, your files WON´T BE AFFECTED by this procedure.
Hope it helps
Kind Regards and Good Luck
P.S: Dear Bigo, excuse my interference -
hope that is what you are talking about?... otherwise i know nothing of a sub in YOU MODEL -
Hi Guys,
I apologize, I may have made this post
( forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=324415 ) in the wrong place. Perhaps would be the reason for no more responses than I have had.
I am sooo totally tired of trying to determine what to do to fix this audio issue. I need to get this behind me and get apps installed along with many GB's of samples, etc. but now I digress....
Basically, I need help!

I purchased my 7720-6395 in Dec 2007 at Best Buy. It came with Vista Home, the T5250, and NVIDIA 8400M. So far I love it. It's my cheap "gaming" system.
Issues I've experienced so far:
Speaker crackle and unexpected shut down - solved by getting a fan cooler
Vista related going into Sleep and not waking - solved by changing to hybrid
Upon initial start up, harddrive doesn't spin up, and laptop doesn't start, after turning off and restarting, laptop starts normally - unsolved.
Except the last issue it's been a great and dependable laptop. Though I have to wonder if I can't get the last one fixed when my laptop is going to decide to not start. -
I purchased my 7720-6395 in Oct 2007 at Ebay - Best Buy Outlet. It came with Vista Ultimate, the T5250, and 8400M GS. So far there is not much of -6395 configuration in in it anymore.
RAM 2x2gb OCZ
HDD 2x200gb Hitachi 7k200 (plan is to put in 2x500gb Seagate 7200rpm)
GPU (8600m GT) now 9600m GT
CPU (T5470) now T9300
Internal Bluetooth
I have one question about it. Was anybody able to run RAID on 7720? -
I purchased my 7720 from buy.com refurb'd with
t5250 core 2 duo 1.5
2gb ram
120gb HD
intel x3100
Fan doesn't run correctly. CPU will get to around 50C then audio will start stuttering like crazy. I did see another spot for a hard drive though I don't know if the internal connectors are there. Other than the heat issues and the sound been a nice machine.
*Heat issues solved with updated bios.
Something that does annoy me though is with this optiarc burner I cna't burn DL dvds, it always errors even though I am using quality Verbatim media. -
also this thing has IR receiver but I can't find a driver for it for xp never midn does it even show up in the device manager.

Just upgraded my 7720G to Windows 7 Pro. The Acer software didn't appear. Is there any way I can get it such as Gridvista etc.?
Charliep -
OK - so it was a little bit of a mofo, but the deed is done....my 7720 now has a 9600M GT and ranks 5.1 processor, 5.6 memory, 5.9 aero, 5.5 gaming and 5.2 HDD
The only thing I find flaky is that you HAVE to force it to install the drivers...as long as you don't attempt any automatic driver updates you're OK, otherwise it will revert back to standard vga mode which we all know sucks...still, for $130 shipped I ain't gonna complain and it beats the crap outta the old 8400M GS.Attached Files:

Hello everybody, just found this forum recently, pretty amazing when it comes to finding info about laptops.
I'm currently using an Aspire 7720 under Windows XP SP2 and I'm getting slowdowns sometimes, mainly when I play games. Since it is probably caused by video drivers, I'm asking if the ones I am using (6.14.11.8681 for Geforce 9300 M G, 19/08/2009) are compatible with this config, or if I should revert to a previous version. Thanks -
I have an Aspire 7720-6827 with Vista and all of a sudden cannot connect to the internet with acer eNet management. Any suggestions?
-
also, one more thing. I double checked the acer support site, they do have the Nvidia driver for the 7720 for 32-bit Windows 7. But I installed 64-bit. should i go ahead and re-install windows 7, but in 32-bit this time? Or should I wait on Acer to release a 64-bit driver? Because there is one for Windows Vista 64-bit. is there a way to use the Vista 64-bit driver in Windows 7? -
Did you try with driver from nVidia's website? Also, Acer's drivers suck and Acer's video card drivers especially suck.
Also, how do you know that driver isn't working? Error message would be helpful.
