    Hi all,

After running the Insyde Winflash app to upgrade my BIOS I got some error about write access after which the OS froze. There was no response to any action (power button etc.) so after a half hour of waiting I removed the battery .

Now there is no response whatsoever, no lights, no charging, nothing. Upon pressing the on button there is a faint pop through the speaker, but that's the only sign of life.

Is this due to the BIOS crash, or is it something more sinister? Is there any way to reset the BIOS via hardware? Lastly, is it something that needs to be fixed specifically by Acer (who do not at this stage respond to phone calls or tech requests via e-mail). The machine is still under warranty but by the time Acer eventually if ever responds it may not be anymore :(

    Any suggestions welcome.

You've broke it. Bad flashing means that you've got to change the motherboard or the BIOS chip (most likely, the whole motherboard). Sorry pal, but you're in big trouble, send it to Acer as soon as possible.

I feared as much, thanks for the confirmation. At least the drives are fine and I've recovered all the data, so not too much trouble, it's just a drag having to wait for Acer.

Amazing how you can buy almost anything online and have it delivered in less than 24 hours, but when something needs to be repaired we're suddenly in the middle ages.

Whilst I'm pretty happy with the performance of the 7720G (with T9300 + 4GB), the lack of service pisses me off and it will probably be the last Acer we buy, I'll rather pay more in that case.

Sadly, these days companies provide cheaper products in exchange for poor service, and subsequently even earn money by charging by the minute for phonecalls they can't or don't care to answer.
