I have Acer Aspire 7720G. Today suddenly a ticking sound started coming from the speakers of the laptop. Normal sound doesn't play and microphone isn't recording anything. The sound starts playing as soon as BIOS finishes loading and there are pauses when operating systems are loading. Since I have a faulty front audio board, I removed it in case it was causing the problem, but the ticking sound continued.

What can I do to fix this? I have a ExpressCard soundcard, so using it isn't a problem, but how do I stop the ticking sound? I know that I can remove the speaker wires, but then the root cause would remain.

UPDATE: After disabling the sound card driver in Windows and restarting, the ticking sound stops when Windows starts loading.

I disconnected the speakers and used SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio for notebooks for a while. Today I tried out the integrated card again and it worked fine. I still can't figure out what solved the problem.
