I bought a 7741Z-5731 a couple of weeks ago. So far I like it. Impressive performance, in my opinion, for a system with Intel graphics and a lower end processor. What are some other opinions on this system?

Is the screen nice? 1600 x 900? Does it have HDMI out? I saw it at Walmart for a good price after I had already bought the 7741g, which was a decent machine, except, even with a headset mic, the sound was atrocious for Skype or messenger chat. But for the money, it wasn't too bad.

If the screen is as good as the 7741g, and you got it at that great price, you're probably in good shape for work or school stuff. Might be good for Netflix streaming (stereo audio) too, if the HDMI is included.

    Good luck with it.

I'm definitely enjoying the nice 1600 x 900 display. Much better than the 1366 x 768 displays that I've been using. It does have HDMI out, but I haven't used it yet. Just wondering though, did you use an analog headset mic, or was it USB. I just picked up a nice Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 and used it with Skype with no problems at all. Even for listening to music it's pretty nice. I just wish the earpads were a little thicker. I guess they'll do until I can get a nice set of AKG headphones. I've also streamed Netflix on it, but without having the computer hooked up to a TV and it performs quite nicely. This thing is probably one of the best notebooks I have owned, if not the best. I''d put it up there with my old Gateway MD2614u, mid-2007 black MacBook (last model with GMA950), and Dell Latitude XPi.

I went with the analog through the mic jack. I should have tried the USB. Glad it worked out for you, because you seem to have a good laptop at a very affordable price!

I am considering getting this computer. I am wondering if it is quiet (fan noise) and if it has a good battery life. Also, does it get hot?

    Thanks.
