    Hi,

I discovered this forum because I was looking for a solution to upgrade my son's laptop (an Acer Aspire 8920g with an ATI HD3650 video card).
I read that I could buy a Geforce 240M without changing anything or flashing a modded bios.
When I plugged the Geforce 240M video card inside the MXM port, the comptuter started but the screen remained black. The backlight switched on but there were no Acer logo onthe screen.

I plugged the ATI card back and the laptop works normally.

Is the video card I bought out of order? This is a used one I bought on Ebay.
Do I need to flash the laptop with AS8920G BIOS 1.16 SLIC2.1 VT MOD bios version?
This computer as 1.16 orginal bios version.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Thank you for your answer. I've read the thread on the link you give me.
If I understand everything, I need to flash the vBios for my 8920g as in the zip file given by .NetRolller 3D?

    Thank you for your help

I can't say for sure unfortunately - BIOSes created by .NetRoller3D were created to solve a problem with a different card but that problem was not specific to the card but to the BIOS itself so it might be a good thing to try.
