Hi forumers.
I have a huge problem with my 8930G that needs to be fixed as soon as possible as I manage many websites that need attention.
Problem: Shuts down "randomly"
When: Whenever I run more than 2 application (most of the time).
I can be using FireFox for a while, then load up Photoshop and it just turn off, no warnings or anything. Sometimes I can run both apps for a while but still shuts down. (It doesn't only do it with these applications)
I don't think It has anything to do with over heating as the air coming out is not hot and I have cleaned all of the fans and outlets and made sure there is heat gel on all syncs.
Bit more info that may help to solve the problem...
Last week the main power supply got wet so I left it to dry for a week befor plugging it back in but I dont think this has anything to do with it. Also, whenever I have the battery plugged in, after about 10 mins (or maybe when I open more applications) the power light on the laptop will start to flash, then shuts down.
PLEASE!!.. Is there anything I can do to help someone solve the problem? Is there any application that logs everything that is happening up until the point is shuts down?
Please, I need this fixed as soon as possible to keep my good reputation.
Thanks

Try to download and install HWMonitor: CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
And see what temps you are getting at right before your shutdown. -
I'll download and run that now but the only thing is, is that it shuts down randomly so unless it can log all temps I wont know.
EDIT: Here is a text doc with my current temps on idle. I don't think there is anything wrong with these.Attached Files:

Looking at your temps: See what temps you get up to when you have multiple applications running that cause a crash (ie. photoshop), just leave HWMonitor on the side of your screen, and see how your temps change...
Does the computer shut down as in: "Windows is Shutting Down", or does your power "cut" (if you get what I'm trying to say)?
And how did you make sure the heat gel (thermal paste?) is on all syncs? Did you open up the laptop? Are you sure you haven't damaged thermal paste installation... You aren't supposed to touch it... etc.
Also this random shutdown problem usually shows up with damaged thermal paste installations, or poor/ inefficient cooling systems, as you already seem to know. If you just want to use your computer: a temporary fix could be to move to an area in your house that's cold... It may allow you to use your computer for longer.
As far as your battery problem, seems like your batter is worn, and can't hold any more charge. What the charge indication when you are on battery? A past laptop of mine went from 100% to 15% in 5 mins, turned out it was a worn battery... -
OK,
I wanted to see if it was an over heating issue so I open up loads of applications (FF, IE, WMP, PS CS5, VLC, Dream Weaver) but nothing happend UNTIL I went to paint a line in PS. As soon as I clicked to paint it, It shut down.
AHAAAAHRHRRGGGGHGHGH!!!
So It's not an over heating issue. ( I think anyway)
Thanks for helping electroncarl.
When It shuts down, It just cuts the power, no warning.
(That's what It's called! Thermal paste, forgot the name.) I didn't actualy touch the paste, but lifted the sync off what It was in contact with. There is plenty on there so that Is no prblem.
Now I'm thinking It's a power problem, Is there enough power getting to the laptop or where need be? How can I tell?
EDIT: Forget about the battery, It's not my main concern. Shouldn't have mentioned itbut yes, I think It's ******.

[EDIT]
Maybe your PowerSupply has been damaged after being soaked, and can't supply enough power to the laptop.
I'm not sure how you can check, sorry, but I think you could check if battery is charging or something like that, not sure at all.
Also, I think you mean heatsink by sync?
[/EDIT]
If it's only PS that's causing your problems, then could it be a corrupted PS install? or some software related to PS (or that PS depends on) that corrupted/ gone wrong?
I have to leave for a while, and won't be at my comp:
So, IF it is overheating, check out these links:

I feel really stupid today, yes I meant heatsink. It's not only PS It shuts down on though. I think I may have to get a new power supply. Arrgg, £20 for that, £15 for new camera charger and £22 for new External HDD cable. .
Thanks anyway. Will look at those links. -
as you got the power brick wet its more than likely thats your problem, if everything was ok before
does it still shutdown on the battery -
Ye, shuts down on the battery with no warning but that is because the battery is empty. But the battery doesn't want to charge for some reason. The power light flashes after a few mins then shuts down. I can unplug the power cable when this happens then plug it back in and it wont shut down. But it happens every 2-10mins.
So it may be that there isn't enough power going into the laptop to do some things (like when the laptop shuts down as soon as I use the paint tool in PS. Maybe then it needs more power for the GPU). Also with the battery not chargin, not enough getting too it to charge it. -
sound like you need a new power adaptor

I have this same random shut down problem. My temperature jump to 105C before power cut off. Replace the fan and works normally again. I suggest you monitor your temperature before you buy a new adapter. If your CPU temp is not above 100C before power cut off so I guess the culprit is something else
