:) Hi everyone, just to let all those with an aspire 8935g know that I've managed to successfully upgrade the CPU and GPU :D from Q9000 to QX9200, and ati to GTS 250m after a nightmare getting those drivers to work. I've done some testing with 3Mark and memtest but still undergoing so will let you know how stable this thing is, but at the moment its beutiful. I will also post a work log with images soon. ;)

Hi Meaker, yes believe it or not I don't know how but it worked, even I was amazed I didn't think it would. I updated the bios first though with acers original V3212. I had to reset the cmos battery after it didn't fire up first, I think it can be overclocked aswell using throttlestop ;-p

I get the feeling now that maybe even a QX9300 could be a shot ;-) or maybe not

No point really. What's an extra 0.5 multi to an unlocked CPU?

yea ur right, besides I'll use throttlestop and try get most out of this q9200. The temps right now are excellent even under load, (around 37 C) looks like arctic silver done a good job.

I wonder if an 8940g motherboard uses the same layout! ;)

Hey, it's been some time since your post and I probably shouldn't get my hopes up you still work with your 8935g?... But I've tried so much yet and cant upgrade my graphics, gts250m never got to work, the bios says something about 24mb (roundabout) of ram on the card... and windows (8) wont let me install drivers, when i forced it, i nearly broke the system.

If you got some time, i'd be really grateful to hear in short what you did (in bios / drivers) to get the 250m to work. thanks a lot in advance.

God damn! Congratulations! Where did you get this CPU? Maybe this one will work with 5739G...

This threads old but here goes,
frxxl... I'm having a go with an 8935G , I've fitted a GTS250 and its working :D, the only issue left is how on earth to select it over the internal graphics.
You can't disable the internal onboard graphics in bios otherwise you get 20MB of ram reported on the 250 and blue screen after blue screen.
I guess this might be a bios issue , I have used the latest version though.
I understand the 250gts does not support swapping , is this right anyone ?
I have (by luck while disabling the intel graphics in device manager) managed to get the machine up into life with the 250GTS running, it was stable with a driver from laptopvideotogo.
It was certainly stable and ran well, having thought it would come up that way everytime I restarted....no it doesn't !
    Idea's anyone ?

    Hey pcloco,

Try going to Bios and select discrete for card options and this should disable the onboard card and you should be able to use the dedicated card alone. Give it a try and see....!!!

Hey, just q quick reply i already posted in another channel / topic: I did not get the 250m to work (3 different cards tested) but what you want to get ist the 6770m from aliexpress.com. Take the one with red pcb for about 180 USD. Believe me - its worth it. CPU is now a p8800, its alright, but im already thinking about a t9900 or even a q9200, i mean, if the guy in this post is right, it might work ;)
