Hey, i just got my Aspire 8934g and fairly quickly i noticed that it crashes when watching flash video. At first i thought it was just a fluke but i can recreate it at will, here is a link:

YouTube - amazing ufo china july 2010

My computer crashes every time on that page before the video clip has even started. I need some advice on how to fix this but dont tell me to do a system restore, my system is 1 day old, ive hardly used the thing :)

So any ideas? Anyone with the same experience?

Appreciate any help i can get!

Hmm... works fine for me. Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Adobe Flash?

Haven't tried uninstalling/reinstalling Flash but i did try turning off the "hardware acceleration" in the Flash settings and now it seems to work.

    But still - annoying bug!

    Hi,

I have the same problem. The computer crashes everytime i try to look at this video:
    Karambolage - videos.arte.tv
with a message like "The pilote ATI was not responding and has been successfully restaured", but still it is impossible to watch the video after this message. If i try a second time to watch the video, i get a blue screen with fatal error blabla and the pc reboots (i did not get this kind of message since... windows 95!!).

I tried a lot of things (re-installing flash, and even formatting my computer), but nothing worked so far. Surprisingly all the rest is fine (videos on youtube - dailymotion - other websites - and all kind of videogames are working perfectly fine)

Thank you PhJ for your tip, i'll try this as soon as I'm home and let you know if it worked for me.

It's a problem with ATI's crap-drivers. My brother got the ATI 5870 and he got many problems with YouTube in full screen! I wrote to ATI about it, and a month later a solution was released with a driver.

    Hi,

sorry for the late reply but my ATI driver problem was fixed by turning off the hardware acceleration in the flash settings. So thank you so much PhJ, now I can watch again my favorite show!

I am an owner of an Aspire 8943G, and up until the 9th of this month did I count myself among one of their proud corporate-supporters. Here's what happened.....hopefully those of you owning this system will learn from my experiences.

My Manufacture date was 5/22/2010. I literally purchased this computer directly from MicroCenter on 7/22/2010 (The system was 2 months old, never been used). I have been a hacker since the cradle and know my way around a PC, and so I'm well versed in the areas of data recovery, and effective computer practice.

I started school in September, and literally used my computer for "EVERYTHING." I downloaded & installed a wide-variety of MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) and Academic Alliance software pursuant of my education.....and to date do not feel as though I utilized my machine for anything outside of the norm......However, on 12/9/2010, my laptop had for lack of a better description, a mechanical aneurysm.

Step #1: Cold Boot. (I pushed power)
.....the Num Lock light, as well as the blue power indicator are the only lights that appear at this point.

USUALLY, the "Acer," Bios screen is what is seen upon POST......not this time.
Instead, my display was void of anything. NO Pixels, No indication of life what so ever. The only flicker of hope was the blue power light and numLock indicators as previously mentioned.

ONE long beep, followed by TWO short beeps ==> "VIDEO PROBLEM."

At this point, my story correlates to the issues mentioned about the playback during various youtube videos, and other flash-based media b/c of the various issues conveyed.

First of all, I'd like to ask some of you graphics folks out there ---- but correct me if I'm wrong, but the ATI (Mobility) Radeon 5850 that's in the 8943G has 1GB DDR3 dedicated memory, does it not? Furthermore, I would argue that the catalyst interfacing that's been integrated into the OS is quite advanced in it's ability to provide users with cutting edge graphics, is it not???

Then IMO the fact that 3D Acceleration of ANY kind had to be disabled in order for you to view your favored presentations is absolutely crazy. The Acer Aspire is one of very few machines on the market today that will grant you such RAM specifications (8-16GB capable).....so I still would hail its praise as one of the better machines on the market.

HOWEVER, what the bleep. 5 months later and my machine is DOA with the 3 beeps of death? if it were a car I'd hit 'em with the lemon laws. geez.

I am an 8940G owner since 11/2009; my system contains an NV GTS250M. I also had to disable hardware acceleration for Flash until Flash 10.1 was released. After I upgraded, I tried re-enabling acceleration, and I have had no problem since.

Hi, this is a flashplayer issue not one of hardware, works fine with my HD3470 btw Google

I have had more issue with NV graphics than ATI ones and I can't even use NV based chipsets at my school(s) because of the way it handles the network...
