Never have used Bluetooth but seeing there is a Bluetooth button on the case of the 9300 & I want to reduce the # of connections to the laptop, I bought a logitech Bluetooth keyboard & mouse today. I turned the keyboard on and pushed the bluetooth button on the 9300 and the message "No Bluetooth Device" shows at the bottom of the screen.
If I attach the USB dongle with the keyboard it works perfectly so the keyboard is indeed transmitting properly but the laptop does not seem to work and all I get is that message: "No Bluetooth Device".
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!

You do not have bluetooth in your laptop.
Acer have a standard keyboard layout for all their laptops and some have extras included such as bluetooth and wi-fi so the buttons have to be there just in case.
Either that or the module has become disconnected inside. -
Rats!
This definitely has wifi included as the button is glowing and pushing it says wireless on or off. I have not had a chance to use it yet but will go to a wireless hotspot & see what I can make happen (never have used wireless before).
But the Bluetooth... I saw that button on the case and got the information at the bottom of the screen "No Bluetooth Device" and was happy to think there was Bluetooth native in the laptop.
If it's not here but the button is on the case, I wonder if there is an aftermarket module I can attach to be enabled? I just called Acer Tech help and the person had no idea about bluetooth on this laptop and told me to go to a circuit city or best buy and ask someone who sells them. No kidding, that's what I was suggested by tech help to do... I probably got someone new who was thinking on her feet but that's not re-assuring as to the level of tech help assistance I can expect.
So, any idea about a post purchase internal bluetooth addition I can do?
Thanks! -
Hi Megalomando,
here in Germany Acer lists on the webpage an official distributor for spare parts - this company offers a document with a "Field Replaceable Unit" List that gives all the part numbers of the original bluetooth module that you'd need to add it to your Aspire 9300. You can find the document at: https://www.mk-electronic.de/hersteller/PDFDokumente/Acer/Mobile%20System(MS)/Aspire/9300.pdf
Not sure if you can order the parts needed directly with http://www.mk-electronic.de and have it shipped to you or if you need to find such a spare parts distributor in your country ...

Herr Schmidt,
A bit belated but hearty Thank You indeed for your kind suggestions!
I have asked several stateside laptop repair shops what is the reason Acer makes the motherboard connection for BlueTooth and the BT on/off switch & BT LED on most if not all their laptops but do not connect them here in N. America.
The answer I got was Acer feels BT & wireless in general is more popular in Europe than in the states so they save the extra cost and don't add it on most of their mass produced equipment like laptop cases and motherboards destined for the states.
If true, it is something the Acer Product design and marketing departments have gotten wrong. The least they could have done was make adding BT a drop in item easily accessible from extra space within one of the access panels.
I understand it is easy just using the USB dongle but for me and simplicities sake, an internal BT makes far more sense. Besides, everything small and loose around here disappears in short order and the computer itself I can anchor with the lock.
Looking at a photo of the module, it looks like the connector is an 8 pin variety. I wonder if all the pins are active? I have seen wired modules for the Acers with four wires connected but attached to 4,6 & 8 pin connectors which leaves pins open on the connector.
I'm guessing one BT module that works with Acer is as good as another but the pin configuration is important as are the drivers for the proper module.
If anyone has a photo of the location of the motherboard connector or better yet a schematic explaining the BT socket along with the photo of the connector please do let me know, that would be a great help in deciding how to get to the proper one.
Thanks again. -
God id love to get a BT module in my Aspire 9300 too. Here in the UK and mine does not have 1 and i have had 2 of them.
Gits. lol.
Anyone managed to get one and fit one and also any ideas on price. Or if there is a USB BT that works well with the Acer button.
Cheers.
