I just bought the Aspire 9800 a few days ago and I love it! It has been dubbed "el papi grande" by my friends! It is the most brilliant screen I have ever seen. Besides the fact that it weighs 17 pounds and there is no carrying case made it rocks! It did run like crap out of the box with all of the acer bloatware, but after a clean reformat and dual boot with xp mce and suse 10 it is perfect!

    GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guarantee you that it is by far the best notebook screen on the market. It makes the screen on my 17" macbook pro look like crap. It is extremely fast, it has happily taken every O.S. i have loaded so far (xp mce, vista rc1, sled10, ubuntu 6.0.6) with minimal effort. The base of the unit is rather slim so it is comfortable to type on. I would say that at least 75% of the thickness and weight is in the display. The display is so bright you have to turn it down in the dark.
