Hey all, I have an Acer Aspire 9802. Unfortunately the graphics chip has burnt out. Don't know how but I need to replace the whole motherboard. Acer said this would cost £300 plus. I was thinking that I might be able to find a motherboard replacement for cheaper rather than sending it away and paying a lot of money for it, and just fit it myself. I know that you can get laptops for pretty much £300 these days but I would still like to get it fixed, as it has a 21 inch screen and it cost £1200 originally, and it's only 3 years old. I have these questions:

    1. Get the original motherboard for the laptop? (if anyone has any good sites with proper Acer parts where I might get this)

    2. Is it possible to get a replacement motherboard from a newer version of the laptop (9920, I think) and fit it and would it work? So replacing and upgrading at the same time?

Any ideas? Has anyone done this?
