    Hello everyone.
It's my first post here and I have used the search function before posting this question since I did not see a reference to this question.

Anyway, I just picked up a new 5745G-6323 and noticed a real oddity as far as the CPU is concerned.
All specifications on the Acer site, and on the box that the laptop came in, says that this computer has a i7-720QM cpu running at 1.6g. Oddly enough, everything that I have checked (Win7 system properties, CPU-Z, etc) shows the CPU in my rig to be a i7-740QM running at 1.73g.

Has anybody else run into this yet?
I am certainly not complaining about a cpu upgrade, it just strikes me as odd that I can't find any reference anywhere about a 740QM being installed in this model. BIOS bug perhaps?

    Is BIOS also showing 740QM?

Also, is your packaging (the direct packaging Acer box for the laptop, and the sticker near the touchpad) indicating 720QM or 740QM?

If both are true then you're lucky.

    Thanks for the response jerg.

The sealed box showed 720QM, as does the sticker next to the touchpad.
The bios, however, shows a 740QM.

Well run some intelburn (for all 4 cores) whilst having CPU-Z running too, intelburn will push CPU to 100%, see what CPU-Z reports as the dynamic instantaneous CPU clock.

OK- I am not quite sure how to use these programs but I ran IntelBburn while CPU-Z was open.

    You hit the jackpot.
Maybe they ran out of 720QM at the factory so they substitute it with a 740QM.
    Nobody should be complaining though.

    No complaints here.
In fact, I am pretty darned happy about it.
This appears to be one of those rare occasions where I purchased something that wasn't built on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon.
