    Aspire One D270 Memory upgrade

    Hi there

    I just bought a D270 notebook and decided to immediately upgrade the memory to 2GB. I decided to pay the shop 'technician' $36.00 to install the chip, but funnily enough, he couldn't do it. He wasn't even attempting to remove the keyboard, which I believe you need to do. In the end, I brought the chip home and have spent a few hours searching the net to find clues about accessing the 1GB chip, to no avail.

    Just wondering if anyone could help?

    Hi again

    I worked out how access the card (not 'chip') - via the keyboard, lots of screws, then the back panel. Why do companies make it so complicated? Anyway, I went to replace the 1GB card with the 2GB card, only to find that the latter, which was sold to me, isn't compatible! The little groove along the edge of the card is in a different spot to the 1GB card that came with the notebook. Yet the Amicroe 2gb card says it's 'universally compatible'! Am I the stupid one here? Am I missing something?

    Where's the Luddites! They had the right idea.

    Okay, no more posts from me. Answers are on the net if you search properly. I need a DDR3 card. Lesson learnt - people who sell laptops are sales people for a reason.

    The correct RAM is KVR1066D3S8S7/2G
    2GB 1Rx8 256M x 64-Bit PC3-1066
    CL7 204-Pin SODIMM
    The maximum RAM allowed on this model is 2GB
    When upgrading you have to remove the keyboard, pop a tab and then take out the panel on the backside.
