My problem is for a friend who has set their hardware password, probably the harddisk password in the BIOS.
He knows the password and can log in fine, but seeing as the laptop is his girlfriends, she is now pretty miffed with him that she now has to log in everytime she wants to use her laptop. So my question is this, how does he now go about removing any password verification. I thought that it would be a simple process of going into the password setting in BIOS and entering blanks or just removing the password, is this the case as i dont want to tell him something that could effectively lock his harddrive.
BTW the laptop is an Acer Aspire One with Linux installed
Thanks in advance...........

Sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to bypass a password protected system, as I've just been reading other posts on here about the Mods not allowing this.
But my problem is that we know the password, and just want to remove it, I just dont want to tell the guy to do the wrong thing. -
I'm sorry but any discussions even slightly related to how to bypass password or any kind of security are prohibited by the forum rules.
