Don't know. Try doing some google searches for info. Looks like it can be pretty involved if you don't know what you are doing.

Looks like its just a layer to go over the existing screen, so thats no good to me :(

I am debating whether to replace the screen for £80, or the whole laptop for £199.

The chassis has a big dent on it, and it no longer sits flat on the table (the whole laptop is bent), so I am more inclined to do the latter and just flog what I have atm on eBay.

EDIT: Just to add insult to injury, I have now discovered the AC adapter somehow got broke in the process as well... Never seen something quite like it.

I would be livid if I was in your shoes right now.

You work your butt off only to find that some "guest" has no respect for your property???

As a habit, I remove lappies, cellphones etc. and put them safetly out of the way when visitors arrive with their kids etc.

    Better safe than sorry.

    Good luck

Don't mean to take sides but I completely agree. Unless, the family member is a young kid, then you may let it slide,,, kind of. But if he/she earns for a living, DEFINITELY make them pay for it.

    Oh well, these things happen.

Why not turn it into an opportunity to upgrade?

I would get the solderless touch screen kit, and at the same time, add internal bluetooth to one of the extra USB ports you will get with the touch screen. If your running Vista or Win7, you could add 4gb of readyboost (via a flash drive) to the other internal USB port you get with the touchscreen.

If you get the touchscreen, I highly recommend that you epoxy the four wires down to the controller board before installing (theybreak off really easy).

While you are in there, perhaps replace the wireless Athros G chip with an Intel 4965 AGN chip (an cheap and easy upgrade that can add tons of range and thoughput to your wireless connection).

You can also move up to a 500gb hard drive and more memory (if you dont already have the 1.5gb upgrade).

Oh! Note that the touchscreen is an add on to the the regular screen (it fits over it), so you will need to get a new screen as well :(
