..just got this Refurbished 571T-59DC/i5, 15" laptop. ..downloaded 4 Updates. It ran several hrs while doing so. That's all I've done with it so far other than download Decrapifier & letting it uninstall game bloatware. This laptop is dead quiet! ..no fan noise or anything. It's been cold where I live so its environment is around 65°F. Shouldn't the fan have kicked on at some point? Thanks.

How about the temperatures? You can monitor it with HWmonitor or similar utility, you can also check by holding your hands against the vent.

I recently bought an S13 thin and light (S5-371-55DC) with an i5-7200 in it. I also have yet to hear the fan on it. Runs great and I think it's a solid buy for the price range.

Thx, ellalan. I'll check out the HWmonitor. It was somewhat cool in the room where the Aspire is when I had it on so maybe that kept the fan off.

Thx superguy25. I agree. I studied laptops for quite a bit b4 pulling the trigger on this one & I'm convinced it's a heck of a machine for the $. Some say it's a bit slow, but I figure if that ends up being the case I can put in a SSD & still be $ ahead over my other top choice but much more expensive Dell XPS 9550. ..enthusiasts swear by it but it is easily twice the price. .. great laptop & I'm definitely not knocking it, but I'm no power user & am keeping my fingers crossed that the Acer will be a good fit for me. ..Gorgeous display. ..was worried about the glossy screen but so far I love it. I'll download the HWmonitor as suggested by ellalan, but for now I'm gonna guess the lack of the fan operating is because of the somewhat cool environment it's housed in.
