I'm trying to repair an Aspire S3 with BSODs and crashes/hangs, it seemed like a simple malware removal but it's proving more difficult.
Disk activity can trigger it, sometimes something as simple as moving a file between folders. Installation and uninstallation of programs also seems to trigger it. I've tried running the System File Checker but it stops at 8% and tells me it can't perform the requested operation. Same thing in Safe Mode (though Safe Mode hasn't BSOD'd on me yet). SFC with the /verifyonly switch reveals system file integrity violations, though the CBS.log itself can't be opened for me to check which. I've also tried SFC from a Windows 7 install disc, but it wouldn't run at all.
Checking the crash logs the BSODs are mostly related to a driver "93409296.sys" though I can't determine what driver this is and Google reveals nothing.
I'm also sometimes seeing "no bootable device" after rebooting from BSODs.
During data backup I received about two dozen "error splicing file" errors in Parted Magic. I've never seen this happen before.
The issues with file operations have me thinking I'll need to replace the SSD (anyone know the exact model? I know any drive would work, but I want to eliminate any potential variables) but the issues with SFC, driver related crashes and software installations are making me think this is a Windows issue. I've already tried doing a repair/upgrade install of Windows 7, but the system hanged and rebooted during the Gathering Files phase.
Any thoughts before I wipe and reload the thing, guys?

ACTION NEEDED RIGHT AWAY!!!
We had the same problem with the Acer S3 391-9415-US.
First it would hang. Then the blue screen came up frequently and eventually the drive crashed with all data lost (message: No bootable device). Just 14 months old.
SSD DRIVE MODEL
This drive came standard in our Acer Aspire S3 391-9415-US: . Micron SATA NAND 2.5-Inch C400 Solid State Drive 128GB MTFDDAC128MAM-1J1
It is 7 mm thick although the description says 9.5 mm.
Look for reviews on Amazon for the Micron Drive.
What can you learn from that.
If the blue screen suggests you have a problem with a drive BACK UP RIGHT AWAY.
... and change the drive.
REPLACEMENT
You can use any 2.5 inch drive that is 7 mm thick (perhaps a 9 mm will fit)..
We have two other laptops running with the Samsung 840 series SSD*. NEVER A PROBLEM - KNOCK ON WOOD.
The Samsung 840 series will fit in your ACER. They are only 6.5 mm thick.
Remember to remove the "corduroy" fabric piece from the Micron drive and place it on the new drive.
I hope you made a recovery USB stick when the Acer was new.
* You can read how I installed the Samsung drives if you look for my reviews on Amazon (Internet Shopper)
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
One of my friends also bought the Acer Aspire S3 391-9415-US (a week later than we did) and the Micron SSD crashed 3 weeks after ours.
There is one review on Newegg by Logan O. The SSD crashed after only 3 months.
PS We ended up putting a SanDisk 256 GB in our Acer as we were traveling in Asia and needed the drive right away. The local store only had SanDisk in stock.
Aspire S3 (S3-391-9415) stumping me at work, SSD issue or Windows related? Or both?
