I am currently having a problem connecting my 1810T to my Samsung TV via HDMI.

When I first boot up the machine, I have the HDMI cable plugged in. Nothing shows up on the screen. The backlight is on but does nothing.

Afterwards I shut down the machine and remove the HDMI cable. The system boots up, I see the spash screen, then the machine restarts. The systems boots up again and I see the splash screen. then asks for my password then boots up into Windows.

When I get into Windows one of two things happen next:

    1) I plug in the HDMI cable, screen turns black, the backlight remains on. I press the power button, the machine immediately shuts down.

    2) I plug in the HDMI cable, nothing happens. I press Fn+F6 or WinKey+P to change the display, the screen turns black and the backlight remains on. Upon pressing the power button, the system immediately shuts down.

I really do not know what is causing this. I did a fresh install but this problem still occurs. It never happened before. Problem occurs on both the stock and updated video card and wireless drivers.

    System specs are:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Processor: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo SU7300
Wireless card: Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN (Driver: 13.1.1.1)
    GPU: Intel GMA4500 (Driver: 15.17.3.64.2104)
    BIOS: 3310

I have the same problem in Acer 1410.

Every time I plug the HDMI cable the notebook boots up.

I've tried change the audio and video drivers.

If you have COMODO Internet Security with Defense+ enabled then that is causing the lockups, at least for me.

Whenever you add new hardware, changes are made to the registry, and Defense+ blocks those changes unless you allow them. Once you connected the cable, the signal is sent to the monitor, but nothing will show unless the hardware is successfully installed, including all registry keys.

You need to disable Defense+, plug in the cable, then re-enable Defense+.
