    Hi,
I am planning to get an Acer Aspire TimelineX ( AS4830T model).

In India unfortunately only the i3 model is available, so I was wondering if it the CPU in this laptop is upgradable? Or is it soldered on?
Appreciate if any owners of this AS4830T model could shed some light on this.

    TIA

I think that the 4830T TimelineX use a PGA socket that will permit you to swap in a new CPU. Check the Socket Type in the service manual, which you can find online. But, i think it is the same as the last generation TimelineX models and did not change until the current version of ultrabooks. My notebook originally came with an I3-370M CPU and I swapped in an I5-540M with no problem. I would stay away from the I7s, however, as they tend to run hot and chew up battery life.
