I know there is another thread concerning one of the V7 models, but I thought I'd start an "owners lounge" thread since that seems to be the way around here.

I have the V7-582PG-9856 model. This has 15.6" screen, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, 20 GB SSD (cache), Win8. I got mine at Amazon.

Just got it so haven't had much time to play or install many apps (basically, just Firefox so far), plus I am climbing the learning curve on Win8. Pretty solid so far, I like the display and the touchscreen does come in handy. Still using it plugged in, so I haven't seen how the battery does.

The jury is still out on Win8. Still deciding if I keep Win8, or nuke it and install Win7. Rather annoying that there is no activation code for Win8, so if the computer dies and my backup dies for any reason, I'd have to buy a whole new Win8 package.

Ideally I'd love to replace the SSD with a 256 GB version that would serve as the C: drive and use the 500 as data. However, I am not enough of a hardware geek to blaze a trail doing that. If some one does that, please post your experience!

NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M with 2GB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM. Haven't installed much on it yet. Still trying to figure out if I can do a clean install of Win8. Sadly, that prospect is fading.

The 24gb cache should make it feel fast as hell save for large files. I have been shocked on my desktop how, over time, it seems so fast

I signed up just to check in as an owner :)

    V7-582PG with i7-4500U, GT 750M.

This is such a beautiful notebook.

p.s. a quick check please - is your V7 touchpad have a little gap at the bottom? Here's a photo of mine, there's a miniscule gap a the bottom of the touchpad... I'm wondering if this is a defect?

    Hello,

is it possible to post a few picture of the inside of this laptop?

Where are the fans? Are there 2 heat pipes, one for the gpu and one for the cpu?

Is it possible to post a few pics from the ports on the back side?

I have a small gap as well, but on the right side. I think the touchpad is manufactured to leave a little space.
I love the laptop too, but I seem to have thermal problems, because the CPU idles @53°C (with laptop cooler) according to Intel XTU.
    What's your idle temp?

Some of my 582PG hotkeys are not working well lately. For example the brightness & spk volume.. think its driver corrupted. Is any driver for the hotkey?
