    I was wondering if i buy a linux version of the aspire one to save money, can i switch it to XP myself? Or, since i know nothing about linux, I need to be able to use the office suite and windows based internet explorer add-ins...i dont think i can with linux, or can i?

    Yes, you can install XP if you like. Just ensure you get the drivers and the hard disk version of the AAO. The SSD is terrible for Windows. If you really want an SSD, you can get the HDD version now and upgrade to 2.5" SSD later on.

    how would i go about installing windows with the drivers and such? are there instructions anywhere?

    Same as installing it any other time only the easiest way to do it is to use an external optical drive via USB.

    Drivers are available from Acer's website.

    You can do it via usb key as well but there are much more steps to prepping up a usb key for install than doing it via usb optical.
