The new AOA150-1447 model of the AspireOne is supposed to come with WinXP, 160 gig HD, and 6 cell battery for $399. I saw the $349 one at Microcenter yesterday (3 cell, 120gig) and really liked what I saw... though I thought the backspace button was too small.

Anyway... they say this is out, but I haven't been able to find it at any reseller shops yet. If anyone spots it, please let me know. PM me, even. :)

    Thanks!

I'm also waiting on the 160GB/6cell model. Been searching all day today and yesterday, still nothing.

Same here. When it comes out hopefully the retailers won't jack the price up over $399...

Acer announced the price drop on existing models last Friday, and I think only Best Buy has honored that price drop.

until yesterday i was unfamiliar with the aspire one, however fell in love with the 120gb model that i saw on display at best buy. i can confirm that they are offering both online and b&m for $349 for the windows xp home model. now if i can just find the 160gb, i'll gladly pay the $399. really wish it offered bluetooth at the least like the eee 901.

I've seen it listed on CDW, though they have no info about it on their site beyond the name and a price of US$402. I called and they said it was backordered until about 9/17. They did say you can order it.

Oh, btw, you need to search for aoa150-1447 to find it on CDW. Searching for Aspire One won't bring it up.

Nah, Microcenter has the 1gig, 120gig XP version for 349, and the linux for 329. The others will follow suit.

Though, microcenter is acting like it's a sale...

Well it's a typical netbook in terms of size. 8.9" screen, about 2lbs. give or take.

    Nice

Buy.com has them listed now, for $399. Not in stock yet, but at least they're listing at the proper price. And, of course, buy.com has coupons (do a google search) as well as free shipping. I'm watching them like a hawk :)

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook T4215 for doing photoshop work.
and still got Fujitsu Lifebook S6210 a few years back.
Then, I grab a Dell Latitude C400 off the ebay for a little over $100 about a year back which sole purpose is pretty much what a netbook is. Yet, that AOA150-1447 is pretty tempting.

Since the Aspire One 120GB and 160GB models pretty much also identical in term of hardware, except harddrive and battery, anyone w/ experience on the Aspire One care to comment how would it fare against something like S6210(P-M 1.6GHz) or C400 (P3 1.3GHz).

I guess I should've included the link. This isn't the 120g. They have that for sale, and in stock (blue/white):

The manufacturer part number is the same as the one on CDW

I say its as fast maybe a lil slower than your PM but the wattage is considerably less. Im using mine right now and it running windows vista ultimate. I have photoshop c3 and it runs fine. Your not gonna be any video editing on it so it should be fine. Funny thing is my WEI score is 2.7 higher than my Sony Vaio TZ which scored a 2.0

The thing is, CPU power wise, it's an underdog when compare it face-to-face w/ Pentium-M 1.6GHz. But, there is a little spark for the AOA150-1447. Size & Battery life wise, the One will win hand down, and that SATA HD+SSE3 ext should probably make up for the some of the CPU power(or lack of).
This one is sure to be interesting.

BTW, I did check out the gOS which is used by some of the netbook. It's quite impressive, I like it better than vanilla flavor of (k/x)ubuntu. And since Aspire One does come w/ Linpus Linux(xfce), I might even do an OS backup then slap the gOS on instead.

I did the same. Used a coupon code to save $15 so my total is $384. Don't expect to see it right away, however, it is interesting that Buy.com did charge my credit card and my order is in "sent to warehouse" stage and I was told that my card would not be charged until it was in stock to ship.

    Hmmmm.....

No official source, but 2 of the ~5 resellers actually listing the 1447 are listing that it will be back in stock by Sept 19.

I'm thinking about ordering it, but what if the other resellers get it in first? :) Can I stand to wait? Hmm...
Hopefully they don't send you the wrong model, Oberkanone.

The 6 cell does stop the screen from opening to a full 180 degrees, in case anyone has concerns about that.

The screen doesn't open to 180 degrees regardless of the battery type or even if you have no battery installed.

I went ahead and bought one from buy.com. I noticed that all the other retailers are pre-listing it for higher than the $399 price... and I got the coupon code too, so $384. Nice, really... if I'd bought the smaller hd, 3 cell version from the local microcenter I would've paid over $360 with tax and such, and buy.com has free shipping.

You can get a 5% coupon for first time buyers. Just use an email address you haven't used before. Here's the coupon link: http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84773074

I just placed my order for a blue AOA15-1447 one at Buy.com. The lack of having to pay sales tax was the deal clincher for me. Also, my order status says sent to warehoulder, but it also states "on order", which they define as waiting for shipment from supplier.

I picked up the AOA150 a few days ago and really like it. This forum is fantastic for general use but if you're looking for more support for the Aspire One I suggest heading over to the AspireOne forums. Lots of great information posted there, especially the thread about bringing back a bricked Aspire One. Seems to be a BIOS related problem (already happened to me.)

Yuck. They're saying in stock on the 23 on Amazon. I thought it would be sooner than that, most places.

I bought mine on buy.com and it says "At Warehouse" too. I'm going to check and see if they charged me already...

As a NYer I unfortunately now have to pay sales tax at both Amazon and Buy,com unless something has changed, but I may be able to get it tax exempt if I buy it locally since I would be using it in a non-profit org.

Quick question - it was mentioned that you can get a 5% new customer discount with buy.com using a different email - does google checkout count as a used email address?

Also, the 6 cell is bigger than the 3 cell ? How much more battery life will it provide? Not sure if they will still even offer the 3 cell version but I might prefer the $50 saved in sacrifice of the 40gb and the better battery.

Also, while I know its a matter of personal taste, which color do you prefer?

6 cell is definitely bigger than 3 cell, it sticks out close to an inch from the back and does affect the tilt of the LCD screen slightly. The 3cell does not stick out from the back.

It provides pretty close to double the battery life. I have the 3 cell and I do under 3 hours with it, the 6 cell does close to 5-6 hrs (I also have access to a One with 6 cell and have gotten around the stated time)

I've heard you get 6-7 hours with the 6 cell versus 2.5 or so with the 3 cell. We'll see what the real world totals are, but they should be at least double what the 3 cell gets.

It sticks out a little more in back, I think. Someone had a picture... I'll try to hunt it down. The screen doesn't open quite as wide (as it does almost flat with the 3 cell).

I haven't seen the white in stores... I don't think I'd like a white keyboard, though, it would get too dirty over time. I did see the blue... I think it's going to be a fingerprint magnet, but it was nice.

Even without a battery, it does not go "almost flat". it's probably around 150 degrees or so. The 3 cell does not get in the way as it is flush so still around 135 degrees.
With the 6 cell, it's probably around 125-130 degrees or so (Sorry, don't have a way to really measure this at this time).

I can't see 7 hours unless you don't have wifi on, screen is at the lowest, hard disk is almost never accessed, and the cpu doesn't go to full speed (In other words, almost doing nothing). I've done close to 6 hrs doing minimal web browsing (no flash sites, IE6) using wi-fi and the CPU was almost always at 800mhz, screen on absolute lowest.

Will this $399 XP model with 160gb HDD and 6 cell battery come in white for the U.S or only blue?

I've only seen the blue models in my area, but in Canada, I only saw white models. :)

Looks like we have the white models but with 8gb SSD or 120gb HDD, both 3 cell models.

It seems the AOA150-1447 has not been released in significant numbers yet. Others have posted that there should be a big launch around September 19th. However, I believe this model may be in short supply for awhile.

Currently, I do not believe anybody has them in stock. I went ahead and ordered mine from Buy.com even though they do not have them in stock. I figured I would get line. :)

    Nobody has any stock, yet.

You can pre-order at buy.com for $399, with free shipping (or $15 less than that if you get the 5% off coupon... look earlier in this thread for that info.)

I think they'll be shipping around the 23-24th.

BUY.COM doesn't say about model no for 160GB HDD version. where as it specifies model no for 120GB version. Without model no, it is difficult to know whether it is six cell or 3 cell model. I need 6 cell model.
