    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help?!
I have the Acer Aspire 9300 notebook and have had problems with the screen going black for no reason whatsoever. This can happen just after the login screen comes on from rebooting after a long period of rest, or it can happen when I've been using the computer for about 10 mins, its really that random, so I don't think it can be an overheating problem. Even rebooting has no effect, the screen will just come back on again when it feels like it - maybe 10/20/30 mins later!!

I'm pretty sure its not a power management issue as the screen is set to turn off after 30mins, and it can happen when I'm actually using the computer and not when its been left idle for a period. It can also happen when the computer is running on a battery or plugged in.

Anyone any ideas as I'm stumped with this one?!

It looks like a hardware problem. If laptop display goes blank after some use,it may be posible that some hardware part can not take the generated heat and fails to function.
You should think to return the unit to the vendor.

i've seen a lot of these units have inverter issues where the inverter gets too hot and starts cutting out. When the backlight turns off can you still see a faint image of what you were looking at previously? Also, if you prod the sleep switch down does the backlight come on again briefly? If so i would definately say that you need a new inverter.
