Hello folks, I had a person punch my laptop (please don't ask), while the laptop was open and running. Luckily, my hard drive still works (tested on another pc), but the laptop itself won't boot.
What happens is- I press the power button, the power led turns on, the fan spins up, but the screen remains off. The fan keeps on running for about 6-7 seconds and then everything turns off.
I tried to plug the laptop both into a HDMI TV and in a VGA monitor and it was a no go.
I tried testing with only one RAM stick, but it didn't work (i tested both of them)
I know how to fully take apart the laptop, but I've taken it apart so many times that one of the screws is stripped and there is no way in hell to unscrew it.I don't have the right tools to remove it, therefore I cannot check for myself!
So before I spend any money to get it unscrewed, does anyone know if this necessarily indicates a faulty motherboard? Or maybe it could be another problem, for example a cable disconnected because of the impact?
My laptop is a Travelmate 5735z, a low-end laptop, a new motherboard is $ 160 and it's just not worth it. If I could get the laptop to work again just by messing with it, then I would do it. But honestly, if I'm sure that the motherboard is gone, then I won't even bother, sell what remains and get a new laptop.
please help me guys, I desperately need a laptop, it's difficult to carry around a tower!![]()
Thanks in advance everyone, and have a wonderful day! :hi2:
EDIT: I don't know if this may be useful, but my laptop is identical to the travelmate 5335. the only thing that changes is the cpu
BIOS not starting
