I have tried the 1.35, the 1.32, 1.31, and 1.29 bios for the 5620 and all of them keep coming up as 'open flash.sys fail'. I'm not really sure where to go with this now.... any help ladies n gentlefolk?

I just noticed something in your sig
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64

That BIOS flash is for 32bit Windows Only.
    Bootable Flash Disk
If all else fail please go shink your partition install a 32bit OS then Flash.

ye i tried it with winphlash64 aswell :S

i read the readme file in that but still not too sure what i am doing.... i assume i just copy the files as it says but to a CD and don't bother with the step 1, and make the disc bootable?

Bootable thumbdrive just copy the minidos file to the usb thumbdrive using the hp drive key utility then put the flashing utility inside then proceed with flashing after booting into minidos

No CD needs to be a image and this isn't an image.
