i mean its pretty expensive ( at least in europe, where im from ) , i hope it could work properly for a couple years at least, as it will be a machine which i would like to use for everything from school to games.
The 3d card seemed to show impressive results, but i was wondering how the heating reacts if using the laptop intensivly for a couple of hours at least...
One more thing if some1 is familiar with this: is it good for reading & movies ?

    hope some1 can help

It's good for everything. Maybe not so much for movies but its still definitely good. It gets hot when you play certain games but the fan just goes on and it never really gets hot in front of the keyboard.

o cool u have it, why isnt it good for movies actually ? colors fading?or cos of the 15 "?

what about reading text? i mean like , if its possible to read for a long time without eye fatigue ? or is the font too small cos of the high resolution ?

is the screen very bright ? ( i hope not lol, or maybe u could adjust?)

with what games did it get hot ? its just when i start playing i like to play for like a couple of hours if its elders scrolls oblivion for example, or i need to turn the notebook off , and then resume in a half an hour or so?

hope u can help me with this :)

Movies are fine (on mine at least) although obviously only a 15.4" screen, reading is fine (at least to me) but then again my eyesight isn't too bad. Screen is NOT very bright (in fact one of the complaints by at least some people is that the screen is too dim).

Playing EQ2 the machine does get hot, but I've never had it get hot enough where I've had to shut it down (and I've played/had EQ2 running for many hours)

Well reading a lot without lot eye fatigue is important to me, cos i ll use it for school all the time, probably at least 3 hours a day...

About the gaming, i hope i can play for a long while like u do, maybe i should get some cooling pad or something.

I'm 54, am nearsighted and need reading glasses too. I sit in front of the thing for 8-10 hours a day for work. After initial getting used to it, I don't get any eyestrain.

Actually, there is a problem with eye fatigue when reading and working (at least in my case), because of screen quality (poor vertical viewing angles). The screen is not too bright - that's for sure... :) WSXGA+ at 96 dpi font size is ok for me, but it could be annoying for someone - you can always set 120 dpi. Notebook gets hot sometimes (eg. when I play Richard Burns Rally for 2 or more hours :)), but never too hot to use it, power brick gets very hot also...

Well i wont be reading from a rear angle or something, but i hope i can read it when i sit exactly in front of it.
Just if there was a laptop which a matte screen which wouldnt get pretty hot when gaming :p would be awesome, but the 8204 isnt that bad then i hope, as my main concern is reading

Well I guess its ok then if u can read from the thing, for such a long while.
Cos older people should be getting problems faster with the eye fatigue, as im 18 ( knock knock) , hopefully i wont ve trouble

Well, with my 8204 there is a difference when you just move your head up and down. I'm talking about VERY poor viewing angles, but as I said many times, it could be related with light leakage, so there is a chance that another notebook (without light leakage issue) will be better.

Because I have a lot of work now and I need this laptop! When I finish a project, I'm gonna send it back to Acer, hoping to get a replacement, but there is approx. 2 weeks turnaround time, so I cannot do that at this moment...
