I've been using an Acer 1681 for about 7 months now, and the battery wear is already up to 15%. Is this normal wear, or am I keeping my notebook plugged in too much? Should I remove the battery if I regularly plug in my notebook?
-
This seems to be normal degradation . A lithum ion battery would last only upto 300 cycles or around 2 years
-
on my TM 4000 it shows 1% wear level after 5 months (manufactured date is 2004/10/18). I have it plugged into power mostly.
-
TM 4001lmi; after 8months the wear level is 18%( I've used maybe 10times from battery..
I sent email to the acer support but no answer yet. Their support is a big s*** as their products. [!][

Talking about wear levels via MobileMeter, how accurate is it? How accurate is the time frame for Li-Ion batteries (upto 300 cycles or 2 years)? The reason why I ask is because I ran it on my old Toshiba Sat Pro 4300 Series (4+ years old, P3) and my battery (the original one that came with the unit) is saying 3% wear. I still get a good 1.5-2hrs on it (I think that's all I ever got).
I brought this up because people have asked in the past, "What's better, leave the battery in while connected to AC or no?". Well, I have always said to leave it out as the constant charging will shorten the life. Others say there's no difference, especially with Li-Ion batteries. Well, if the wear levels are accurate, that means leaving the battery in will shorten battery life.
Does this sound reasonable or am I just smokin' crack here? []

Venombite:
The new acer models come with some kind of smart battery subsystem , which older laptops lacked , even my old toshiba laptops shows only 3% were even if the battery is dead . So i guess its upto how Mobile meter measures the battery life . From what i have noticed the battery level indicated by mobilemeter is some what close in travelmates (newer models )
Aron juz check how much battery life you are getting now , i'm sure it must have reduced , well it did in my case
If some is still unsure about battery . Reffer more on
