I bought a new Aspire 4730Z nine months ago. It came preinstalled with Vista with which I had no battery issues as I was getting well over 2 hours battery life after a full charge.

Recently I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I am getting less than half of the battery life after a full charge and sometimes only 20 minutes before the laptop shuts itself down.

Is this battery issue due to Windows 7 (are they any drivers that I need to install) or is this a defective battery?

Move back to the original OS ... the special ACER software will adjust correctly , all the power saving related modes .

Windows 7 its a generic OS , with out the proper tools for laptops .

Batteries can get damaged, if they do not get proper handling , by the laptop software .

If this has happen , nothing can reverse it .

New battery , and original ACER OS , would bring back the functionality on specs.
