I've recently bought one of the new Aspire 5562wxmi Core Duo laptops. As the battery life isnt great, I'm after a spare battery. Hopefully, a meatier job than the bundled battery (6-cell 4800mah).

Acer in the UK seem to charge more for batteries than independents (even with a 30% Advantage discount), so I'm looking elsewhere. Problem is I can't find anyone who stocks batteries for this model yet.

The serial number on the battery say's BTP-AMJ1 (Sanyo) but this doesnt throw anything up on the net.

Maybe this is'nt the correct serial number? Can anyone help me, please?

I can't help you with the battery but you can probably help me by giving me some information on your laptop as I am also considering a 5562WXMi from the UK!

It seems that the UK version is quite different from the Asian version, so can you just clear a couple of questions up for me:

1.) Is the screen resolution 1280x768 and how is the screen quality?
2.) Does the machine have the ability to have internal Bluetooth via an upgrade card?
3.) Does it have a DVI output?
    4.) Whats the battery life?
5.) Would you recommend the machine?

    Many thanks!

    Charles

    Charles,

I havent got the laptop with me at the moment so cant answer all your questions.

    1. Not sure about the resolution, 1280x768 I think. The TFT screen quality is good, but as with all coated screens it's not too good with direct light on it. I commute via train daily and if the sun is out it's really hard to make out whats on the screen. If your outside a lot then a CrystalBright screen may not be appropriate.

    2. Strangely, there is Bluetooth hardware switch on the front as well as one for wireless, but no onboard Bluetooth AFAIK. Dont know about an upgrade.

    3.No DVI output.

    4. Battery life is not great, I'd say you'd be lucky to get 1.5 - 2 hours really (which is why I'm after the additional battery).

    5. Taking all the above comments into account, I'd still recommend it. It's well built, has a pretty good spec, and a good price.

    Hope this helps.

    Paul

Thanks for the info, I am currently debating between the three models of 5562, 5502 (its predecessor) and a Toshiba A100-153 (15.4" with X1600). The 5562 is my favourite still, but I can't see one as they are not yet released in Germany (where I am living!).

I have also heard that the keyboard isn't that good (a bit fexible in the middle), but that the construction is excellent.

Anyhow, I may have found where you can get the battery, in my own search for a bluetooth module. Its a European company that does spares for Acers the URL is:

    http://www.mk-electronic.de

You can download a PDF that has all the available parts for the 5560 series, including a 9-cell battery. It can be found under the menu item "Ersatzteilkatalog".

    Hope this helps!

I have just brought this laptop in Dubai. Here the battery is avaliable for USD 90. I have ordered one as life of battery is short around 90 min only.

Also, did you remove any origional software which was not needed

HI, im from the philippines, and i bought the exact laptop here. the 5562wxmi i bought here has a built in blutooth already.
    Problem is battery life,
you guys have two choices, buy an additional battery, you can look for a high capacity battery, here is a link,

    http://www.wp-batteries.com/Products_3.asp?proid=345

i have inquired already, right now the 7200mah battery is out of stock.

2nd option is to buy a universall battery pack, where you plug it in your a/c slot.
