My wife has an Acer TravelMate 2480 and the battery wasn't lasting long at all. I bought another from eBay (Which I know wont be an original) however both batteries show a full charge which is less than an hour. Both batteries don't even last an hour before it asks you to plug in the power lead. It makes me think it is a computer issue rather than a battery one, any ideas?

download battery bar by osiris dev't and check batt wear and the discharge rate....

you have a celeron m yonah processor - these are 65nm chips that eats lots of power...... my guess, your discharge rate is 20K++ at idle

The old battery was on charge over night and then when switched on this morning it lasted a matter of minutes... Surely not right....

Yeah, something's going on here. Even with everything running on full you should be getting more than a matter of minutes. Are you sure it's shutting down because of the battery? Perhaps it could be something else like overheating or a virus?
