An unfortunate incident occurred this past weekend where my grandmother was near my laptop and knocked it onto the ground... and my guess is that it landed right where the AC adapter plugs into the computer because the little plug that goes in was a little bit bent...

Now that this has happened, I also realized that when I look inside of the hole to where it plugs into the computer, that little pin that the cord connects to inside there wiggles and moves around. I try to stick the adapter in and it will not charge the battery anymore, therefore leaving my computer useless at this current time.

Does anyone know a way to fix it or should I just part with it and sell it as is on ebay or something. - I do have another laptop but I'd still like to get this one fixed due to the fact that I used it more than the one I'm using now (a new HP with vista on it... once i get rid of vista, then this one will become my main computer).

Also, does anyone know that if it can not be fixed easily or cheap, can I take the hard drive and put it in my friend's EXACT same model Acer laptop to take everything off the hard drive that I want and reformat it on that machine?

Please let me know... it will greatly be appreciated. Email me please if you know - [email protected]

    Thanks,

    Paul

so basically it's probably not worth putting money into it and then selling it... that's probably my guess... i just like hearing as many opinions as possible, you know what i mean?

Since the repair will probably include removing/reconnecting(soldering) your power sockets / dc jack which will be expensive(see if you can get estimates from repair places) so it might be better to sell it as is unless you really need to get that lappy repaired

You should be able to put the hdd into any laptop that has the same connection type(ATA or SATA150) and reformat but it might be easier to use a usb external enclosure.

It depend on who does it and what they chrage you. I have done for people for $150 winch am start to think to little cause it tottaly pain in the but to do

I have done on Fugi laptop also compaq you can get replacement plug online if you broke it

if you go to part it out why not try to pull down to board see if you can get to connector i mean you got nothing to realy lose if decide you can,nt fix

rip hard disk out ram screen all other parts out and sell

let me know if you want to sell am instrested if resonable :>

my guess is that i'll be either parting it out or selling it as is if they can't fix it for less than $200

I recommend fixing it if you do not have a back up. if you hp dies then your acer would be a back and you would not be inconvinced as much when it gets repaired.

only if it doesn't cost two much...
