I already upped the RAM to 3GB but it doens't seem to do all THAT much.
The computer feels rather sluggish under Vista. I've taken down A LOT of software, services etc... but to no avail. That and it's pretty established that Vista's just not great.
I have the version with the 8600GT GPU, stock 2GB RAM (now 3) and the T7300 Core2Duo CPU.
I'm looking to get rid of the some of the lag, get a smoother system... I may need more power and therefore to upgrade the CPU but that may be expensive... :/  ?

Anyway... thanks for any tips on this one. It's a well spec'ed laptop but it gets frustrating to use.

CPU upgrade would only help if you're doing a lot of CPU-intensive tasks, such as media encoding.

Bang for the buck upgrade? Windows 7. GET IT. And make sure it's a clean install too, get rid of all the unnecessary cruft.
Upgrade that will turn your laptop into a beast? Solid state drive. They're small in capacity, but mindbendingly fast.

Probably all the clog... I deleted everything I wasn't using, cleaned up services, startup apps, etc... but... it's just getting slower and slower.

W7 is VERY expensive for my budget I guess... over 150 euros for the Home version I can use for a clean install right? I'm not quite sure on the upgrading/clean install process...

You can use upgrade media for a clean install.
Check WinSuperSite for how to do it.
