I got this laptop in january, and it is great. But now, recently, i notice that when i enable the bluetooth (by pushign the front blue button), an icon appears on my windows task bar, and says that my bluetooth network isnt working because is a network cable unplugged, BUT WHEN I TEST THE MOUSE, IT WORKS.
do you have this same issue with your ferrari?
Sorry for my english, its not my native language

It is more than just using the same chip - the Ferrari 4000 and TravelMate 8100 are basically the same laptop, just one's Intel-based and one's AMD-based. (If you look at documents from Acer to have the laptops certified, they go so far as to state that:

"Models ZF**, TravelMate 81**, and Ferrari 4*** are identical to each other except for model designations for marketing purpose."

If you're wondering what the "ZF**" is, that's the OEM name. These two laptops were designed by Acer, but manufactured by Quanta, and that's Quanta's model numbering schema. The TravelMate 8100 is the Quanta ZF1, and the Ferrari 4000 is the Quanta ZF3.

Sorry.... I need help. I have a Ferrari 4000 series laptop. I have installed the driver for bluetooth that you list in this thread but it does not work for me. It will not see the bluetooth hardware after the driver is installed. How did you get the Travelmate 8200 BT driver to work on the Ferrari? Can you help me?

    Thanks

I just ran the installer and followed the prompts. I am just about to try it with Vista.

Did you have to edit the files in any way? The 8200 has a different Bluetooth card in it so I don't see how the BT drivers for the 8200 would work for the Ferrari. When I installed these on my Ferrari 4005WLMi I got a corrupted BT install. Had to restore to a restore point. Let me know who it goes with Vista. I am running Vista 64bit in a Vmware environment. Very fast! no BT support though.

Acer's (and most others') BT packages are quite generic. the btwusb.inf contains the VIDs/PIDs for most devices.

I actually installed the IBM Widcomm 5.0.1.2800 on the Acer TM8106 wh any modifactions to the package at all

    Why the IBM ones?

version 2500+ sorted out the problems with BT mouse lags an dropping sounds on BT headsets.
2500 is from the Logitech Mouse package
2800 can be downloaded direct from IBM
se link in previous post and the BT software forum overthere

    Cheers
