    Hey y'all

ive downloaded the zip 3315 for the BIOS but wont work for me, ive followed the readme txt and says to install winflash utility from the winflash zip (i presume this is the setup.exe in the WINFLASH.zip) ..i kindly did so but returned by saying CANNOT INSTALL:SETUP OR INSTALL PROGRAM FILENAME CONTAIN FOLDER INFORMATION. USE ACTIONS/CHECKOUT INSTEAD. So whats that all about?

Im still waiting on the big download for the ATI driver, the Europe support site wouldnt let me download properly from the link, said the file was completed but blatantly wasnt so as i open it theres no info in there. im now using their ftp...should i be prepared for anything or shall i just go to the properties of the driver in display settings and update from there?

last thing, does everyone else have a Mat'****ter' drive?

    cheers

..actually i cant download from the europe site for the ati, it keeps freezing at certain points whenever i try to download and i have to end task with task manager :(

I'm not sure what's up with your machine, but I'm sure someone here will help.

I just got my machine, flashed it with the new bios, and I could tell the difference in screen brightness right away.

I also just installed the new ATi Catalyst 6.6 and am installing HL2 right now...

Well this is where I got the file from:

    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/tm_8200.html

Before you can flash the bios you have to install thw "WinPhlash" program that comes in the file.

Once you have that program, you browse to where you downloaded the files and select the new bios file (it's a .wpa file or something like that". The program does it's thing, the computer restarts and it's all good.

Thank you so much PJstock 42. I use new BIOS now, yes brighter, and also Support merom, (on history text file)

If any other computer idiot like me who cannot update your bios, follow this step.
    1. Download bios 3315 from above link.
    2. Extract it into a folder
    3. Extract again phlash16 and winflash
    4. Install winflash,
    5. Run winflash and brows on "specify new bios file"
    6. Browse into above folder, choose .wph file.
    7. Run flash
*. It will restart and whoala.....

No problem, and yeah the new bios does seem to be a big improvement.

Because I started out right with this new bios, I was able to see the change in brightness but I have also not encountered any of the problems that have been talked about.

wooohooo i installed the bios in my 1690 and it worked great no problems at all,and i have a question what about the Phoenix bios that its installed on my laptop i looked at my bios settings and it appears that one "phoenix bios 4 something else 5", the other day i went to their website and saw that, if i remember right, that i can download this software and that software will check my bios and then it will request a new one if i need it,what up with that bios or program?
