A few days ago I bought an Acer aspire 3663WLMi. Today my new router arrived so I was setting up my network and my shared folders running back and forth between my laptop and my two desktops. At one point I get to the laptop which had gone in standbye. Upon hitting a key I get prompted to enter the bios pw which I enter only to get "invallid pw". Having typed that password 100s of times before I pay a bit more attention the next try and it gets refused again. Checked for caps lock, enter it again and again it doesnt work. Is there something I'm overlooking as I'm sure none of the key locks are on.

Now I've never owned a notebook before but does this happen more often ? I am sure the password is correct its been my low security password for over a year. Is the only solution for this to return it to the store and having it sent back ? I don't know if I'll be able to trust a bios password that decides to stop working for no reason.

    Thx in advance.

    Update.

I called the local acer waranty help desk of my country of residence (Belgium)
3 20 minute calls later (spent listening to the mandatory hold music) I finaly got someone on the phone.

Basicly it was pointed out to me that password unlocking is NEVER under waranty and that its ALWAYS the users fault. I must be stupid then. I forgot a 7 letter english word (no caps), a word that I also use on my desktop as a password and a word that worked on the laptop as a password two hours earlier while booting it up not to mention that the number of fields available for it also matches the lenght of my PW. But yes its clearly my fault when I sit down behind my laptop my mind goes black and I can't remember the word I use to log into one of my other computers.

So here comes the fun part since I really need a laptop at this time I can't afford to be without one. While asking directions to the nearest Acer service point to bring it in I was explained to me that there is no acer service point in Belgium but there is one in Germany ! Ofcourse seeing the password unlocking is not under waranty the transport costs won't be either.

Laptop purchased 09/13/06. I am sure of the PW yet I'll be charged for the unlocking and a shipment to another country since acer does not have one single service point in a 11 million people country in Western Europe.

    Go acer !

Thx, sounds like the exact same thing that happened to me. First and last acer product I ever bought, that's for sure.
