Few days ago I tried to update the bios and something went wrong. Now my Timeline 5810T is piece of hi-tech scrap.
I tried many ways to recover bios with Fn+Esc tricks using CD and usb flash with sort of different filenames (BIOS.WPH, jm31x64.fd, ICL50HW.fd, ...), but i'm not happy yet.

It seems, that the old finesses doesn't work with x810 Timeline series with Insyde bios inside. After many hours with uncle Google, it seems that nobody on the planet know the right way.

    Someone can help? Thanks

    Hi,

I had the same problem and after endless hours of research I just sent the notebook to Acer for repair.

In general it seems that downgrade firmware updates (e.g. from 1.28 to 1.10) tend to brick the machine.

Which bios-versions did you try to patch?

I am thinking about getting the 5810T so i would really like to know also.

Does the 5810T support visualization for Win7 Xp mode, might need a new bios hence the interest.

Why are Acers so easy to brick, does the firmware not check to see if it`s the correct version before it flashes.

Well, you are probably right. I downgrade 1.26 -> 1.20 because of problem with battery charging.
What they told you about your warranty, no problem?

Not upgrade, but downgrade is the problem. The flash soft, of course, does check the version! The last thing that i saw on my acer aspire 5810T was

    FIRMWARE UPDATE COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY,

    or something similar :-(

I am wondering nobody knows the trick with recovery.

So did you flash back, because of poor battery life, what version 5810T did you have su3400 or the su9400?

Not exactly. The reason was i left the machine suspended for two days and the battery fully discharges and after plug charger in, did not start charge again. So i thought it may be latest bios problem i tried to downgrade it. Now i know it was not very forethought.

What is piquant, after another two days, battery resuscitated and start charge normally. Now the primary problem is gone, but solution remains.

    My model is su3500, 4/320GB

As the 5810 has an InsydeH2O bios , the recover method might be the same on other manufactures models with the same bios.

So, the correct name of the bios should probably be for a model 3810T/TG (3410) - JM31X64.FD. For 4810 - JM41X64.FD and for 5810 model - JM51X64.FD. Of course one must have bios exactly for your model from acer web.
    Information is from here http://forum.ixbt.com/topic.cgi?id=17:35660:1664

For me this doesn't work. My notebook probably does not want read from flash. Flash led is not blinkink. I should be blink I think! I am confused.

You must make sure you are able to enter recovery mode.
Windows + B is the key to activate Recovery.
    Download Crisis Disk here
Throw the BIOS (name it JM31.fd (for 3810) or JM41.fd (for 4810) ) into the Crisis Disk.
Then Press and hold Windows + B to activate BootBlock with the Thumbdrive plugged it.

Acer told me it can't recovery the bios and need to change the main board fee.
but my notebook does not over the warranty in this year.
and the bios upgrade program is provided by the acer website.
    I feel very angry.
i won't buy any Acer's product in future.
    bye.
