Had a bad flash on my new AAO D250. I am still able to access the Boot Block.

Heres the directions from the D250 service guide:
Seems all well and good, but apparently Acer has some magical version of wincris.exe that works with the Insyde bios. (typically, wincris is for phoenix bios with *.wph extensions.) On most Insyde bios, you simply put the *.fd bios file in the root of the usb device and enter crisis mode and you're done. This one however requires certain files to be on the device.

Anyone have, or have access to these files?
I'm sure they're on the http://csd.acer.com.tw/ website, but I definitely don't have access there.

I too have a dead D250...and I didn't even try to flash it! I changed the boot mode from "full diagnostics" to "quick boot" and now it's dead.

I've read that you can get away with a FAT formatted usb drive and place the KAV60.fd and FLA.EXE in the root directory.

I've been trying with an SD card to no avail, I'll have to give in and buy a sub 1gig USB drive tonight to try again....

Gino Vargese John: Hello, how may I help you ?
    Gino Vargese John: Thank you
Me: I have an Aspire One D250
Me: Recently, I changed a setting in the BIOS from "normal boot" to "fast boot"
Me: now the netbook will not power on. When I press the power button the power LED lights up and the fan runs for about 3 seconds, and then the netbook powers off
Me: During this time the screen remains off
Me: If i recall correctly, I was running the 1.22 BIOS
Gino Vargese John: Thank you for the information regarding the issue.
Gino Vargese John: If my understanding is correct, you mean to say that you are facing no display issue in the Netbook , Am I right ?

    Me: Correct
Gino Vargese John: For how long have you been facing this issue?

    Me: About a week
Gino Vargese John: Are you able to see Acer logo ?

    Me: No
Gino Vargese John: Is there any LED indication in Netbook when you tried to turn ON ?
Me: When I press the power button the power LED lights up and the fan runs for about 3 seconds, and then the netbook powers off
Gino Vargese John: Did you check with external monitor in the Netbook for display ?

Me: I did, there is no external output
Gino Vargese John: Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue ?

Me: Yes. I have removed the battery, unplugged the power adapter, and pressed the power button for 30 seconds. I then reinstalled the battery and plugged in the power cord, and it still will not boot.
    Gino Vargese John: Okay
Gino Vargese John: Could you please be online for couple of minutes, while I check in my resources regarding this issue ?
Gino Vargese John: Thank you for being online.
Gino Vargese John: The troubleshooting steps we have taken have not resolved the issue. Therefore, I have determined that this issue is hardware related which requires service to replace a part.
Gino Vargese John: So may I place an order for depot repair ?

Gino Vargese John: You have to pay for the one side shipping to depot repair center.

Me: it is not a hardware error
Me: it is a bug in the BIOS
Me: I have researched online, others have the same problem
Me: is there any way I can restore the BIOS?
Gino Vargese John: No, it is not possible for your netbook model.
Gino Vargese John: So may I place an order for depot repair ?

Me: Is i possible for me to replace the motherboard myself?
Me: I have a static free work environment and more than enough micro tools.
Gino Vargese John: I am sorry, it is not possible.
Gino Vargese John: Acer do not support the replacement of any hardware part by the end user.
Me: Out of curiousity, how much would I have to pay for Acer to fix a problem that is not my fault?
Gino Vargese John: Component replacement costs associated with this repair will be covered, aside from exceptions outlined within our limited warranty (this would include damages caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, etc.) examples of this includes cracked LCD, liquid spills etc.
Gino Vargese John: The replacement part and labor service is covered under warranty, only You have to pay for the one side shipping to depot repair center.

Me: How long will the repair take?
Gino Vargese John: In depot repair, the Netbook will undergo advanced troubleshooting like replacement for resolving the issue.

Gino Vargese John: The estimated time to complete repairs are 7-10 business days once received in service depending on parts availability and service volumes
Gino Vargese John: Is there any physical damage to Netbook?
Me: No, but I have decorated it with stickers
Me: should I be worried about the repair depot damaging my customised cover?
    Gino Vargese John: No.
Gino Vargese John: So may I place an order for depot repair ?

Me: This solution describes my problem perfectly: http://netbooks-us.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/66
Me: Is there a similiar procedure for the D250?
Gino Vargese John: These instructions are only for the Acer Aspire One AOA-110 and the AOA-150 netbook series and should not be performed on any other model Acer Aspire One.

Me: I know, but is there a similiar solution for the D250?
Me: they are very similiar machines
Gino Vargese John: I am sorry, it is not.
Gino Vargese John: The wrong BIOS update will harm your Netbook.
Me: I know that, that's why I have not tried the procedure
Me: Can I try that procedure using the D250's BIOS update?
Gino Vargese John: I am sorry, it is not possible.
Gino Vargese John: The method is only for the Acer Aspire One AOA-110 and the AOA-150 netbook series
Me: There was a BIOS update released for the D250 on 12/08/2009 why can't I use that?
Gino Vargese John: I will create a service request ID for this issue and you can use that when contacting us again for placing an order for depot repair.
Me: Since I am still under warranty, can I return my netbook for a refund?
Gino Vargese John: I am sorry, Acer do not provide the Refund for a product.
Gino Vargese John: For future reference, I have documented our chat in Service Request number . You can use this number when contacting us again.
Gino Vargese John: Incase you need any further help please feel free to contact us back.
Gino Vargese John: It was a pleasure working with you. Thank you for using Acer Live Chat. Feel free to chat again anytime and have a great day.
Gino Vargese John: If I provided all the information you required ,may I wrap up this session with your permission ?
