More details on what happened before the event please?

Try Fn + F5. give it a couple pushes and a few seconds in between if your display will appear.
Connect an external monitor (via. VGA, HDMI, etc.) and see if you get any picture on the external display ( (after pressing Fn+f5 repeatedly if no display comes up at first.
Also Try moving the lid back and forth to see if you get any flases/picture/etc.

More details could help get more troubleshooting options. ;)

a friend of mine had the same type of problem and his solution was to push the screen back and forward until somehow the connection between the screen and base came good. then he bought a new screen and it seemed to work ok from then on.

    Define blank.

Is there any sign of the backlight coming on (can usually see leakage at the bottom of the screen)? Is the screen black or solid white/ light grey?

Have you plugged the external monitor in before turning the laptop on? If yes, do you see the BIOS splash screen/ Windows load screen? If no, then plug the external in before turning it on! :)

Can you hear it still loading into Windows, or is the only sign of life power lights and fans whirring?

If the only change from seeing something to not seeing something is plugging a different adapter in, things could be bleak...
