I've done it before because my giant 'E' launches CS:S.

But now I don't remember what I did to set it up. Where do I go to re-map those buttons? As I have found a better use for the giant 'E' then to just launch CS. :p

    Thanks

It doesn't work for the big E-button. I wanted it to open windows media center, but it doesn't do anything.
    Can somebody help me?

BTW - do you know how to change behaviour of media keys on the right side of laptop? I can't use it e.g. in WinAmp or Amarok (in Linux)...

In Winamp preferences there is a section called Global Hotkeys. You map the multimedia keys there.

For Amarok I'm not sure, I'm guessing you could try and find a plugin that allows you to remap the multimedia keys.

Sorry, but this feature (Global Hotkeys) do not work for me. If I try to add additional key (e.g. "play / pause") in the Preferences / Global Hotkeys nothing is changed - only e.g. Windows Media Player starts instead of putting the key code in the field. With "stop" key is even worse - there is no output in the appropriate field in preferences... It looks like the media keys work only in Media Player (play / pause, stop, forward, etc.).

I have also investigated this case in Linux. It is rather strange, but the media keys on the right side are recognized as the additional touchpad!

Hey there all!! I was having the same problem with the media keys on the side (couldn't use them with winamp global keys).....that is until 5 minutes ago!
I downloaded the latest drivers from the synaptic website (version 9.2.5) and now i can use them with winamp with no problems so far (well its only been 5 mins). The only thing is that there is no longer a "media settings" (or what ever the tab was called) in the acer media touch control panel so you cant change the sensitivity of the buttons.
I just thought i'd share this cos I was so annoyed and was stuck with the retarded windows media player.
On a side note, i've noticed that the little red media button (probabaly the record button) doesn't do anything or light up (even with the normal drivers), what is it for and does it really work?

just wanted to say that Yes it works now,
Latest Synaptics driver + "global hotkeys enabled" in Winamp and Media buttons rock :D

but make shure you don't make the same mistake I did - if you install the new driver over Acer's one with "Media buttons disabled" option then for me media buttons were completly dead with new driver, you Must enable media buttons before updating driver.

btw, don't listen to bull**** about the media key illumination and glowing red record button - no matter what I did the buttons are always lit and there is no glowing red button. :D

Before changing the driver (from "Acer" to "Synaptics") - should I uninstall the previous one?

If you have Acer launch manager, than setting up E button is a peace of cake, so get it to sit in the system tray, setup und enjoy

That's what you would think. I Use launch manager, and I configure it so it would open Mediacenter (the exe file), but it does nothing when I push the E-button. It does work for all the other buttons though. So that's why it's weird.

This might be helpful and it might not but you can get pretty much more customization options from Launch Manager via the registry.

    Use this registry path: HKLM\Software\Quanta\QtZgAcer

It may also have a subpath Settings\Buttons and there it lists other functions such as:
    Fn+F1: Help
    Power Options
    Fn+F4: Sleep

There are many listed functions there and you just have to find the correct one for the button you wish to customize. You can do this by looking at the Command key and that shows what is being launched when the key combination is pressed.
