Hello, just wondering if any bloatware removal guides exist for Acer machines? IE, which programs can I easily remove. We recently picked up an Acer (desktop) and it came LOADED with bloatware.

    Any help is appreciated

All the stupid Games Published by Oberon Media.
In the Program Feature in the Control Panel you can see all the software publishers.
Uninstall everything except Smart Power Manager, All the drivers and LaunchManager.

To be honest it doesn't take that long to format a USB stick with Windows 7 and reinstall from scratch - you can be up and running in an hour or two no problem, with a *guaranteed* bloatware-free system.

I'd recommend this method because even after I had uninstalled things like the McAfee trial, when I looked in the performance and system alerts there were errors popping up caused by McAfee references. Therefore I wouldn't assume trust uninstalling all the software is going to fully remove it and restore your system to optimal performance.

Bottom line - installing from scratch is the only way to be sure.

There is a free program called decrapifier that will find typical bloatware and uninstall it.

Well in terms of "real performance" I'm not that concerned, it's our family PC, doesn't even have a dedicated GPU (and in terms of upgrade, well I'm not sure, it's got a really tiny form factor, I don't know if you can even fit a video card in this case). It's a Q8300 2.5GHz, so it's quite faster than anything any of us are used to, it's even much faster than my laptop.

Thanks for all the help guys.
