I am sure this has been asked and answered before but I can not seem to find it.

I just got an Acer 6920G with a Blu-Ray drive. I would like to watch the our HDTV. The TV is 1080i and not sure of the max res output but will find that. How do I go about watching them on TV? I did get a picture on the TV which did not look great. Also could not get any sound out of the TV via the HDMI cable.

Please help! Rented some movies and kids and I would like to watch them tonight.

Blu-ray will only play in 1080 if you are displaying it only on the tv or only on the computer. If you have it in displaying on both screens at the same time , it will not play or only play in a very poor quality. So turn off the computer monitor and have it display on only the tv.

My laptop is displaying it at 1920x1080 and my TV is 1366x768. How do I setup the laptop so it doesn't try the higher rez on the TV? Can I have it so the laptop knows but rez and just turn the laptop display off?

Also still dunno how to fix the sound.

For the sound you go bottom right screen sound icon, right click, playback devices, then you choose HDMI output and you set that as default. Now for the TV, I guess you have HDMI cable as you said. The best image you will get from your TV is 720p and not 1080i. 1080i is awful for PC resolution. I have 720p for my HDTV and it is great. Now to pick this resolution, you go nvidia driver properties and after you have connected the HDMI cable in the properties you will get video/television properties and there you can set the resolution/output for the HDTV.
Just for a tip, when you connect the HDMI cable to TV and laptop, choose the TV for main and only display. To do that, the easy way is to go again nvidia properties, set up multiple displays and then set the TV as primary and disable the laptop. Let us know how it go

Well tried all this. I get it to work sometimes. Other times things just seem to get messed up. Had a hard time getting the sound to output to my reciever in 5.1. I will miss around with it more in the morning. Want to watch something tonight since it's workin at the moment.
