    stupidly i bought some memory from "fastmemoryman" on ebay 2x 2gb SAMSUNG 4GB DDR2 SODIMM PC2 PC-5300 667Mhz 2x2GB IN UK
    thing is i dont think it is real , it doesnt work it only works for about 1-5 mins , and as soon as i put a load on it it crashes then restarts
    any help greatly appreciated i'll try to give a url

    hope that works . i did some reasearch on this bloke afterwards i think i have been conned like , should have gone to crucial , i know that now :eek: :eek:

    If you download and run MemTest86, you will probably find that the RAM sticks are bad.

    i have ran memtest and it didnt come up with anything , are there any settings in the bios that would cause this problem????

    You should have asked this question before you bought the ram. The aspire 5100 is known to be picky about what ram it likes. However samsung ram shouldn't be giving you any problems. Personally I would never buy memory from sellers on ebay, the risk of it being bad or defective in some way is too high for me. When I upgraded the memory in both of my acer notebooks I always went to crucial, as I trust them.

    how could i ask this question lol i didnt know it was gonna be rubbish and, i have had enough i told ya so's off me wife , im just wondering if there is a setting i am missing or somthing else , the bios on acer is so limited , there are no options

    ok i ran memtest all night last night no errors , thought i had cracked it but the same thing just happened , could it be overheating? or is it just no good i think i will just get some from crucial,anyhelp on this would be greatly appreciated
