I have the Acer 5672 & Sony SZ120 and when I try to do file transerfers between them it only works 1 way. The Acer could retreive files from the Sony but not the other way around. I could browse the shared folder on the Acer from the Sony laptop. But when I try to retreive a file it give me an authentication error. Not sure why this is. I only used bluetooth as headsets before so I'm not familiar with the procedures for pairing 2 laptops. The Sony is running XP Pro and the Acer XP Home. Not sure if this makes any difference for bluetooth. And looks like Sony uses Toshiba drivers and Acer uses a different one.

I see an option for PAN networking on the Sony, but not on the Acer. Everytime I send/receive a file w/ the Acer, I get a popup on the sony asking me to authorize it. When I try to do it from the Sony, I get a sound (like when a new usb device attaches) played on the Acer but then subsequently I get an error msg on the sony saying authentication failed.

Btw, how do I change the default passkey?

Bluetooth is completely controlled by the client software. Bluesoleil in my case. I used to have MSI before and that works too. There is a security option in my BT client where I can set the default key.

I would go and check the ACER settings for bluetooth. Make sure that it is discoverable, connectable and accepts bonding.

    Hope it helps,
