Has anyone found a bluetooth module yet for the 1410 or 1810T that does not constantly blink?

The one I have blinks even when there's no bluetooth activity.

I know there are some modules that don't cause this, but I don't want to have to buy all the different modules on eBay just to find one that does not constantly blink.

Can you wait until Sunday or Monday? I'm getting a blue tooth module today bought from Acer dealer and I'll install it over the weekend. I'll post the result.

Awesome. Please keep us updated. I see you're in Ecuador. Where did you order that bluetooth module from?

Ok, I'll keep you posted. I installed the module last night but it didn't work. Probably due to the connection cable it came with. Previously I installed a module bought through ebay which works but has the blue led blinking all the time. I'll give another try tonight using the cable from the ebay module. If it works and stops blinking then I'm in luck.

    *LOL*
Factory preinstalled BT modules don't blink, the LED is permanently on when the module is activated.

Nope, sorry no dice! :( The module I bought in Germany will not detect my bluetooth mouse, neither with the cable that came with the module nor with the cable of the module I retro-fitted which I bought off ebay. I guess I'll have to stay with the blinking led. Another but no so elegant solution would be a mini or micro USB bluetooth module. Sorry I couldn't help.

shakennstirred: why turn it off when you are using a bluetooth mouse?

I'd chime in but the BT module I installed into a 1410 constantly blinks. Sorry!

    Cheers,

Does the LED on the outside of the case blink or an LED that's actually on the module itself? I had the same issue with my Acer 3680 and a 3rd party BT module, but I just put some black fingernail polish over the little LED. After you dab it on about twice, letting it dry in-between, it completely covers the LED.

It is the LED on the outside of the case. The module itself doesn't have a LED. It doesn't bother me too much and I can live with it. The factory built-in modules only blink with activity of a blue-tooth device. I guess all 3rd party modules blink all the time even without activity.

Yep. The LED Indicator on the MoBo is the one I painted. Worked like a dream.

I don't want to kill it permanently. I just want it to blink ONLY when there's bluetooth activity.

Malvo, thanks for keeping us updated even if it didn't work out.

The BT unit I put in my 1410T blinks all the time. I just don't see the problem as long as it works. What is interesting is that the blinking is not purely random as it blinks more when the BT is working.

How many pins are on the bluetooth connector on the motherboard? I bought a module that came with a cable with a 4 pin connector for the motherboard but I'm sensing that's not correct. Thought I'd ask before taking things apart.

You need a 5 pin cable for AS1410 or AS1810.

I solved the blinking BT module. I changed the cheap module bought through ebay for an original BT module with original 5-pin cable I bought from NotebookSolutions.ca. It is very costly at US$ 100,00 including shipping and handling but no more blinking! :)

Let me get this right ... you spent $100 to replace a $19 BT module that worked perfectly, just because it blinked all the time? Are you completely out of your mind?

Great that you found that economic solution. Hopefully it won't constantly blink. Keep us posted.

I get a full refund if it's the blinking type. I emailed the seller before purchasing. His reply said that he tested a couple of these units and none of them do the constant blinking. These are OEM Acer bluetooth modules he's selling so they better work like the ones preinstalled in some of Acer's models.

The modules he has have the same large Broadcom logo on them as well as the same part number stamped on them as original / OEM Acer modules.

The other modules on ebay also have the same large Broadcom logo on them as well as the same part number stamped on them as original / OEM Acer modules. The important part as it seems is the sticker on the module which differs from the one you bought. So, good luck.

That looks ok and let's hope it is. I meant the stickers on the other cheap sources on ebay which have different stickers on the modules.
