I have a 1-week old Acer Aspire 4820T. All I've done with it is unpack it and create a set of recovery disks. Today I tried to power it on, but got a message that the battery was low. No problem, I assumed--the adapter cable probably came loose, so I powered off, plugged in again, and pushed the power button. Nothing happened, and five hours later, nothing has yet. I've tried removing the battery and leaving it unplugged for 15 minutes, and then plugging in again, but that didn't help. The adapter is good, because it works with another nearly identical Acer (4810T).

I'd much appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Does it work without the battery?

Do you get lights when you plug the charger in (both on the front panel and the charger brick)?

No, it won't work with the battery (alone, or along with the adapter). There are no lights; it's just stone cold dead.

    Replace the unit.

I think the intern power/akku load electronic is dead.

    happens some times.

It works! I found an old Acer netbook adapter with the same output specs, and plugged it into the new, dead machine. It powered on immediately, and fully charged the dead battery overnight. I even ran down the power somewhat, and the new, previously dead adapter charged it right back up. I don't understand this at all, but won't look the gift horse in the mouth.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my post.
