Help! I just got this thing from Newegg a couple of days ago. It worked fine for a day or so.. Now.. It will not turn on at all! No lights on the front panel or anything. I tested the AC adapter in another laptop and it works fine... Anyone have this problem before??[ :(]

Does it light any light when you plug the charger to the laptop and to the wall plug?
Have you tried to take out the battery and see if, with the charger connected, it starts?

As Requested... The problem came back after I posted. I have sent the machine back to Acer in Texas for warrantty repair. I called to check on the status of the machine and found that they were indeed able to reproduce the problem. They are still working on it (2 Days) since they got it into the shop.

I must say that Acer is top notch so far in my book as far as customer support. I called at 10:30 am on the 27th of Dec... Fedex was here at 4:00 pm on the 27th to pick up my laptop free of charge to go back to ACER.

As far as performance of the machine... I'll post when I get the machine back and put it through some benchmarks.

I have to agree with you on this one opalfrost98gt, Acer's warranty service is top notch. I haven't received this level of service from any other laptop manufacturer except from IBM! I look forward to reading your review.

Well, I got my laptop back after 10 days... Not Bad IMO...
Turned out I had a bad system board. Acer replaced it and I have put this thing through several weeks of torture! No More Issues Period!

    Kudos to ACER WARRANTY SUPPORT!!!

I have not found one single thing that I don't like about this notebook. It Just WORKS! I think it is most likely the best bang for your buck notebook out there right now.

I'm planning on getting a 7200rpm HD and a Nec 6500a DVD burner to top it off. I already upped the ram to 512... I might go to a gig in the future...

Battery life is okay... The standard battery is a 4 cell 2200mah and lasts about 2-2-1/2 hours. I mainly us the laptop at home so this isnt a real big issue, however the 2300 can also use a 4400mah battery from the 4000 series and that should up the battery life quite a bit.

As far as performance, The Celeron M kicks butt! I ran a comparison using sandra benchmarks and it showed the Celeron M runing neck and neck with the Pentium M. Very little difference.

I also opened the system up and noticed that the CPU is NOT soldered on to the board. May open some possibilities down the road for an upgrade. I'll post more on this later after further investigation on this system board and available Bios.

Talking about batteries, acer batteries don't fair as well as other manufacturers. Centrino processors are better than celeron.

    Links???

From TomsHardware comparison of the Celron M vs the Pentium M Centrino:

    Conclusion

As the comparison tests of the Dell Latitude D505 based on the Celeron M, or alternatively the Pentium M have shown, a notebook with a Pentium M CPU is only advantageous with regard to the battery life. Regarding performance, the difference for day-to-day use of CPU models with a similar core clock speed is only marginal.

    See fer yerself...
