A few days ago i tried to update my Acer 5230e BIOS with wflash. This software crashed my windows and after reboot my laptop was briked.

From my research on the internet i found that there is a way to recover my bios with a tool called "crisis recovery disk". I've downloaded it and tried every single posible way to unbrick my laptop.

On some forums they say that you need a .fd file but for my laptop i only have a .rom and a .wph file.
Can someone tell me what's the difference between .wph, .fd, .rom and .bin?

Here is a broad list of my recovering procedures that i tried:
    1. I've formated my usb stick
    2. Executed CRISDISK.EXE and this copied three files on my usb stick (minido.sys, crisdisk.bat and bios.wph)
    3. I've removed BIOS.WPH from my usb stick and added the one from the bios provided by acer (with the same name, bios.wph)
    4. Removed the battery and AC power cable
    5. Pressed fn+esc simultaneously and while holding it, i've connected the power cable and pressed power button on my laptop

The problem is here, my 5230e does nothing..after 5-6 seconds it's restarting like nothing happened..

I've also tried on different usb ports, different usb sticks (the smaller one had 1GB), tried FAT and FAT32 file system and removed dvd rw drive..

Does anyone have any idea what should i do or what i'm doing wrong?

You will usually need a stick of around 128mb to make these recovery procedures work - anything bigger it just wont read properly.
Also the .wph file indicates it's a phoenix bios which could use WinKey+B or FN+B as well as FN+Esc to boot into the recovery mode.
read here for more info on the procedure.

Thank you for your fast reply. I will try with a smaller usb stick next days to see if it works. Let's hope that this is the problem.

Also is this possible with a normal CD?
