    Hi

My brother gave me his old travelmate C110 which had an expired trial version of vista on it. I tried to delete this install and put XP on but was having problems booting from CD, I read that this might be solvable with a bios update which I performed using Winflash... The bios was flashed 'succesfully' however when I restarted the machine now refuses to post and will just hang when turned on, their is no activity from thethe screen either... It appears the machine is now ready for the rubbish tip!

Pretty sure the bios is trashed but thought it might be worth posting in here before I sell it on ebay for spares. Any ideas how I may be able to get it to work again?

    Thanks

Restored the BIOS to the original BIOS, if you had it backed up. It's usually a good idea not to update firmware if a machine is working properly. Like they say, don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I hardly update BIOS on my machine, except on a DVD burner.

you'll probably find that the mini-firewire optical drive was the culprit as they tend to develope a crease in the cable at the laptop end which damages the surprisingly delicate cables inside.
i dont think this has a crisis mode like some of the more modern machines that i've seen from acer. I dont have access to any reference material at the moment which would allow me to help you further.
